Beach!

 

This has been one of the hardest tasks as a nursing mom: I went to Foster Beach (Lake Michigan with my sister, brother in law, nephew, cousin, her fiance and my sister's sister in law and brother in law on Sunday. Think sand everywhere and I had to feed her privately on a public beach... At least we had fun!

I'm calling it.

She is potty trained! I was scared to post too early for fear of jinxing it, but she is doing fantastic! The three day method works! I would say she was pee trained on Day 2. Poo trained by Day 4. Holy moly. I am aware there will still be accidents and she is in pull ups at night. BUT, it worked! I am so thrilled!

Paige is going through a minor rough patch. She wants to suck her thumb so badly that she starts to get upset after working at it for like, 10 minutes straight. It can be heart breaking to watch!

We have guests over the next few days and we are taking the girls to the beach (Lake Michigan) on Sunday-- looking forward to it. My husband is being a trooper as going to a crowded, hot beach over a holiday weekend is not exactly his cup of tea. Thank you Wes!

She graduated!

From ballet class for 2-3 year olds that is. We are so proud. (And sure this will lead to her fine arts degree from Harvard.)

Paige is growing in leaps and bounds! Changes this month:
Cooing
Emerging laughing with her smiles
Napping in crib about 50% of the time
Loves being rocked to sleep
Like the paci, but loves to suck on her fists, fingers and thumb when she can get it
Emergent batting to her sides when on her back
Tolerates about 3-5 minutes of tummy time well
Starting to spread her feedings out to 2 1/2 hours cycles
Consistent 8-9 hour stretches at night
Does NOT like to be left in a room alone (translation: she is in the bathroom during all potty training "activities")


Overall, she is such a laid back beauty! I am mesmerized by her eyes. They are so beautiful. I was always fascinated with Hadley's blue eyes, because that is what I wanted as a kid. I remember my mom saying she wouldn't trade my brown ones for anything and I kind of get it now. I also understand the second child not getting as much one on one time. I am trying really hard to take pictures of just her-- not only the two of them. I make an effort for her to wear her own clothes, though she clearly still has and wears hand me downs.

For those curious about the potty training-- I think my little manipulator has figured me out. I had rewards for staying dry, rewards for peeing in the potty and rewards for pooing in the potty. At dinner tonight, she got up to pee on the potty three times in 5 minutes. Each time requesting a new color of M&M. I am pretty sure she could have accomplished all three pees in one single session. But then she wouldn't have gotten as many M&Ms... Pooing in the potty has yet to happen. But the reward is BIG. I wrapped up her summer Stride Rite shoes that she is going to get anyway. I mean shoes are worth it, right? Here's to hoping for an even better day tomorrow.
